What is Crohn's Disease?

Thanks to television and the internet, the name "Crohn's disease" is commonly used. Yet still, its effects don't seem to be common knowledge. Medical Daily explains the painful symptoms that people with this disease must endure.

The disease is an IBD or an inflammatory bowel disease. It causes people to suffer from abdominal pain, severe diarrhea, malnutrition, and fatigue as well as severe oral ulcers and cramping. As Medical Daily explains, Crohn's disease differs from other IBDs due to the area of the GI tract it actually affects. While Crohn's typically affects men and women between the ages of 15 and 35, there are over 700,000 Americans who may have this condition.

At this time, there is no absolute cure for Crohn's disease. However, there are extensive therapy treatments and specialized diet plans available. These sessions could even bring remission for the patient, and a normal life is possible.
